On opening up:  “You’re right.  I guess we can’t really move forward if you don’t know what we’re dragging behind us.”


On letting go:  Maybe emotional wounds are like that too, August wrote.  If you keep picking at them, maybe they don’t heal, or they leave nasty scars.  Maybe they can even poison you.


On the things you notice when you are falling in love with somebody:  She loved the music of his subdued accent, which often revealed itself in a passage with a lot of Rs.  His unintentional trill  would inspire a blooming sensation deep in her body, and when his voice dipped into a low rumble, it sometimes gave her a shiver that rippled through her.
